Romania says it will bring home the country’s 500 troops in Iraq by the end of the year.
Foreign Minister Teodor Melescanu said a small number of Romanians will stay in Iraq next year as "counselors" to local officials. Two Romanian soldiers have died in Iraq since 2003, according to casualty figures.
Romania is the latest country to pull its troops from Iraq. Kazakhstan and Georgia officially ended their missions last month after five years of operating with the coalition.
