The flight-line fair scheduled this weekend at Marine Corps Air Station Futenma was canceled Tuesday because of a large typhoon moving toward Okinawa, according to an announcement by Marine Corps Community Services.

Displays of Marine Corps aircraft, Japanese and U.S. food booths, and a headliner concert by "American Idol" runner-up David Archuleta had been planned at the air base flight line throughout the afternoon and evening on Saturday and Sunday.

But Typhoon Muifa is now expected to make landfall near Kadena Air Base on Friday morning and current predictions say the storm could pack a significant punch, including winds up to 150 mph, the Air Force weather service reported.

It was not immediately known whether the fair would be rescheduled.
