4:50 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 6, Japan time: What a deluge that was on Okinawa on Sunday morning! Courtesy of Tropical Depression Krovanh’s outer bands. It continues lurking southeast of Okinawa and forecast by Joint Typhoon Warning Center to made a wide curve north toward Japan’s main islands. Continue to expect gusty winds and on-and-off showers for the next-day plus.

At 3 p.m. Sunday, Krovanh was about 165 miles east-southeast of Kadena Air Base, moving east at 9 mph and holding steady at 35-mph sustained winds and 45-mph gusts at center. U.S. bases on Okinawa remained in seasonal Tropical Cyclone Condition of Readiness 4 through Sunday afternoon.
