Stethem sailor fined for elementary school break-in

TOKYO — A USS Stethem sailor was fined 100,000 yen Wednesday by a Yokosuka court for breaking into a Zushi city elementary school.
Petty Officer 2nd Class Kristopher Lee Murphy, 23, was arrested the night of May 12 for unlawful entry after he broke the glass front door at Hisagi Elementary School and was found sleeping in a second-floor classroom.
Police were alerted when a school alarm went off. Murphy was arrested after the police found him in the school. Police said he had been drinking.
