SASEBO NAVAL BASE, Japan — A bomb threat has been called into Naval Base Guam for the second day in a row, Navy officials said.
The threat was called in to 911 during the Tuesday morning commute, according to base spokeswoman Annette Donner. A similar incident happened Monday morning.
After the threat was relayed to base officials, the base immediately went into a state of heightened alert and security was increased at all entry points, causing delays, Donner wrote in a statement.
“While we know that it is inconvenient to the public, and to everyone trying to enter the base, these precautions are to ensure everyone’s safety,” base commander Capt. Mike Ward said in the statement.
Entry to the base will continue to be slowed due to searches and double-checks of identification.
Both incidents remain under investigation.
