Sailor dies while running in Guam endurance race

A sailor died Sunday on Guam while running in a 60-mile relay race to mark the anniversary of the Navy’s founding, according to Naval Hospital Guam.
Petty Officer 3rd Class Andrew Sanders, 22, of Elizabeth City, N.C., was competing in the annual long-distance race around the island, which is nicknamed the “Beast.”
An investigation into the sailor’s death is ongoing, the hospital said in a press release.
Sanders is survived by his parents, Sabrina and Joseph Sanders III, according to the Navy.
