The Navy has identified a Guam sailor who died over the weekend at a military beach on the island.

Petty Officer 3rd Class Ryan Bennett, 20, of Marysville, Pa., had apparently been snorkeling at Haputo Beach on the Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station on Saturday when he died, though the Navy said it is still investigating the cause of death and awaiting autopsy results.

Bennett was a Navy diver stationed aboard the USS Frank Cable. His parents told a Pennsylvania television station that Bennett had a passion for diving and snorkeling that led him to join the service.

They said Bennett had been enjoying some free time at the beach when he collapsed and could not be revived, according to the television station report.
