CAMP FOSTER, Okinawa — A memorial service will be held Thursday on Torii Station for a pregnant Army spouse who died in an accidental fall earlier this week, according to the base public affairs office.

Brenda Indyk, 41, fell on the stairs in her family housing unit on Kadena Air Base shortly after midnight on Monday, the Army said. Military investigators determined the fatal fall was accidental, Torii Station spokesman Chip Steitz said. The unborn baby also died.

Indyk was the mother of two children and her husband is an Army officer. Col. Lance Koenig, the Torii Station commander, issued a statement of condolence.

“Brenda was a loving and caring individual and a wonderful mother … This is a tragic loss for the members of our community and our heartfelt sympathies go out to her husband, Capt. Lawrence Indyk as well as his two young children,” Koenig said in the released statement.

The service will be at 2 p.m. at Chapel One on Kadena Air Base.
