TOKYO — Capt. Bradley Lee relieved Capt. Mark E. Weber as commodore of Amphibious Squadron-Eleven in a ceremony onboard the USS Essex in Sasebo on Wednesday, according to Navy reports.

Lee assumes command after serving as deputy commodore since early 2010, according to the release.

“It’s a privilege to continue to be a part of this PHIBRON Eleven team,” Lee was quoted in the release as saying. “I’m excited to have the opportunity to lead such a dedicated crew of Sailors and Marines.”

During his one-year tenure as commodore, Weber lead four ships and nearly 5,000 sailors and Marines of the Essex Amphibious Ready Group through numerous operations throughout the Pacific Fleet area of responsibility, the release said.
