YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan — Guam Police on Thursday linked two sailors arrested earlier in the week for allegedly robbing a man in a casino bathroom to two more robberies and a burglary on Naval Base Guam, where both sailors are stationed.

Seaman Justin Miska, 21, and Seaman Michael Mayers, 22, already were charged with second-degree robbery in the casino holdup. On Thursday, they also were linked to holdups at two massage parlors, Guam Police spokesman Sgt. Mike Aguon said.

Police say Miska and Mayers used a fake gun in all three robberies, which occurred within hours of one another Tuesday. Surveillance footage and witnesses from the casino helped police track down the sailors the same day, he said.

One of the massage parlors thwarted the suspects by locking the door when the men approached the front door posing as customers after first trying to enter the building from the back, Aguon said.

It was unclear when the burglary on the Navy base occurred. The Navy would not release details of the on-base burglary because the investigation is ongoing, but Navy investigators are assisting Guam Police with the case.

“I want to continue to reiterate that the crimes Seaman Justin Miska and Seaman Michael Mayers allegedly committed are not compatible with our ethos and core values,” Lt. Matt Knight, base spokesman, wrote in an email to Stars and Stripes.

Guam Police are investigating a string of robberies similar to those at the casino and massage parlors that have occurred on Guam in the past month, Aguon said.

Guam is home to the military’s Joint Region Marianas, and to about 170,000 residents and some 30,000 tourists on any given day, Aguon said.
