CAMP FOSTER, Okinawa — Defense Department school officials in Pacific named a temporary replacement for Japan District Superintendent Clayton Fujie, who recently announced he would step down for health reasons.

Joyce Lutrey, deputy director of curriculum, instruction and assessment for DODEA Pacific, will assume responsibility for a district that covers the length of mainland Japan, the Department of Defense Education Activity announced in a press release.

In her current position, Lutrey supervises the DODEA Pacific Area Office educational staff and district superintendents who serve all 49 schools in the Pacific.

Also, DODEA said it has appointed a temporary Japan district deputy superintendent from the DOD’s South Korea schools after an employee search found no good candidates. Carl Albrecht, Korea district assistant superintendent for transformation, will fill that position for now.
