SEOUL — A Defense Finance and Accounting Service team is meeting this week with Department of Defense civilian employees in South Korea who have mistakenly received housing allowances.

The team already has visited U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan in Seoul and Camp Humphreys in Pyeongtaek to explain the process for obtaining Living Quarters Allowance debt waivers and will go Friday to Camp Henry in Daegu, according to the Eighth Army.

Hundreds of civilian workers in Europe and the Pacific have been ordered to repay LQA allowances for which they were ineligible.

As of Sept. 6, the Defense Office of Hearings and Appeals had approved 49 LQA debt waivers, according to the Eighth Army, which said the number of Korea-based civilians who have received erroneous payments will not be available until the team completes its visit.

The team will travel next to Japan.
