CAMP FOSTER, Okinawa — Air Force officials are investigating the cause of a rough landing by a small aircraft that left Kadena Air Base on Sunday for one of the smaller islands in Japan’s southern chain.

The Cessna 172 incurred damage to its propeller as it landed at Kerama Airport on Kerama Island around noon, according to a spokesman from the Air Force’s 18th Wing. None of the four passengers was injured.

Kadena has an Aero Club that offers tours around Okinawa in small personal aircraft. The club also offers flight training. The Cessna 172 rents for $129 per hour, according to its website.

The investigation is being conducted in coordination with the Okinawa Defense Bureau and Director of Crisis Management Office.
