Col. Douglas C. Delamater took the reins of the 374th Airlift Wing from outgoing commander Col. Mark "Buzz" August on June 26, 2014, at Yokota Air Base, Japan. Delamater -- who has more than 2,700 flying hours and over 300 combat hours -- arrived at Yokota from Qatar, where he served as the 386th Expeditionary Operations Group commander.

YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan — The Air Force’s largest transport hub in the Far East and the headquarters of U.S. Forces Japan has a new commander.

Col. Douglas C. Delamater took responsibility Thursday for Yokota Air Base and the 374th Airlift Wing from outgoing commander Col. Mark August, who is headed for a new job as senior military adviser to the Defense Technology Security Administration.

Delamater, who has more than 2,700 flying hours and over 300 combat hours, arrived at Yokota from Southwest Asia, where he served as the commander of the 386th Expeditionary Operations Group, according to USFJ commander Lt. Gen. Sam Angelella.
