YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan — An airman assigned to this airlift hub in western Tokyo was declared dead Saturday morning, the 374th Airlift Wing announced on Facebook that afternoon.

The wing has withheld the service member’s name for 24 hours pending identification of next of kin.

The airman was found unresponsive and later pronounced deceased, the wing said. It provided no further details.

The cause of death is under investigation, according to the post.

Yokota is home to the airlift wing, and is also headquarters for 5th Air Force and U.S. Forces Japan.
