ABIDJAN, Ivory Coast — An Ivorian military official says six people including a military officer are believed to have drowned after a navy boat capsized near a naval base in Abidjan.
Kouassi Kakao, a spokesman for the military's chief of staff, said 15 people were on the boat when it sank early Thursday morning. The cause of the accident was unknown, he said. In addition to the military officer, the victims included gendarmes and soldiers.
Kakao said only one of the bodies had been found as of Thursday afternoon, and that search operations were continuing.
