A busy weekend of Division I girls basketball leaves the season’s momentum with Wiesbaden.

For now, anyway.

Lakenheath spoiled Ramstein’s undefeated record Friday with an impressive comeback win. On Saturday, the Warriors swiped bragging rights from the Lancers with a convincing 35-27 victory, reiterating the case for large-school supremacy they’ve been steadily making all season.

Cierra Martin led the Warriors with an 11-point, 11-rebound double-double, proving a worthy foil to Lakenheath star Jourdan Hodge’s 10-point, 17-rebound effort.

Wiesbaden improves to 6-1, with its only loss coming in a doubleheader split with Division II power SHAPE.

Saturday’s victory follows the emotional win Wiesbaden earned Wednesday, a 40-37 road conquest of defending Division I champion Heidelberg. Dates with fellow Division I contenders Kaiserslautern and Ramtein still await the Warriors.

Lakenheath 51, Ramstein 43. Friday at Ramstein, the Royals suffered their first loss of the season in the face of an overwhelming Lancer rally.

Ramstein’s 29-21 halftime lead dissolved quickly as Lakenheath sprung from the locker room with renewed pep and purpose. The crisp Lancers offense hung 30 points on the Royals in the second half, while the defense limited Ramstein to seven points in each of the third and fourth quarters.

Kristen Reed had 12 points, 8 rebounds, 6 steals and 4 assists for Lakenheath, while Hodge led all scorers with 19 points.

ISB 36/11, SHAPE 28/38. The best and worst of the two solid programs were on display in a wacky weekend doubleheader.

Friday at Brussels, the host Raiders rode a 14-point, 11-rebound double-double from Sabrina Sepul-Azcarraga to a solid eight-point victory.

Saturday, the defending Division II champion Spartans reacted angrily, routing the visitors behind Deja Chappell’s 13 points and 11 rebounds.

The loss was SHAPE’s first to a non-Division I foe and snapped a three-game Spartan win streak.

ISB enjoyed its second morale-improving split in a row after playing Division I power Lakenheath to a draw Dec. 14 and 15.

Ansbach 32/50, Black Forest 24/13. At Black Forest Academy, the Cougars took advantage of their hosts for a pair of victories.

Alyssa Solis (12 points, 12 rebounds) and Jahkya Smith (10 points, 12 rebounds) notched double-doubles for the Cougars on Friday. Chealsy Reaves poured in 22 for Ansbach on Saturday.

Aviano 45/41, Sigonella 43/42. At Sigonella, the Jaguars and Saints staged a pair of instant classics.

Aviano scored 86 points over eight quarters and one overtime period, while host Sigonella scored 85. Fittingly, the weekend ended in a split.

Jasmine Green scored 37 points over the two games for Aviano, while Tenia Strobridge paced Sigonella with two double-doubles.

Patch 27/25, Bamberg 21/29. At Bamberg, the Division III Barons earned a Friday-Saturday split with the strong Division I school.

The Panthers made a 10-point halftime lead hold up on Friday, but fell victim to their own early-game doldrums Saturday as Bamberg rushed to a 12-6 lead.

Damonique Lamons scored a combined 23 points on the weekend for Bamberg.

Brussels 32, AFNORTH 31. Host AFNORTH dropped a narrow decision Friday to its Region I rival despite outscoring the Brigands 10-4 in the fourth quarter.

Ali DeFazio guided Brussels with a game-high 14 points.

Hohenfels 49, Vilseck 29. Friday at Hohenfels, the Tigers feasted on the visiting Falcons.

Hohenfels won the first two quarters by matching 10-4 margins to remove all intrigue from the game early. A deadly Tiger trio paced the offense, as Kiana Glenn and Tashia Golson scored 11 apiece and Shelby Atkinson added 10.

Bitburg 44/47, Baumholder 21/11. Host Bitburg had no trouble with the visiting Bucs.

Brianna Lackey had an unconventional double-double Friday with 14 points and 10 steals. The Division II Barons improve to 4-3 with the wins.

Naples 44/54, Vicenza 36/50. At Naples, Vicenza’s Tatiana Miranda scored 20 points each game, but it wasn’t enough to stop the Wildcats from a sweep.

Naples has won four straight games, all over Region IV foes, entering a Feb. 1 visit to Aviano.
