CAMP RED CLOUD, South Korea — Boxing and basketball tournaments highlight the sports calendar for the 2nd Infantry Division Warrior Country in January.

A Warrior Invitational boxing tournament kicks off the schedule Jan. 17 at Camp Casey Fitness Center. It’s open to active-duty military personnel stationed throughout South Korea; competition begins at 7 p.m. For information, call DSN 730-2322 or 732-6927.

The Warrior Division women’s and men’s senior (33 and older) basketball tournaments follow Jan. 24 and Jan. 25.

The Warrior Division company-level tournament is Jan. 26-28.

All of the events are at Camp Red Cloud Fitness Center.

The women’s and men’s senior tournaments are open to all Warrior Country post-level teams; the company-level tournament is open to qualifying teams from Camps Casey and Red Cloud garrison tournaments.

The winners in each basketball tournament qualify for their respective 8th U.S. Army championships, scheduled for Jan. 28-31 at Camp Walker’s Kelly Fitness Center in Taegu.

X-League offers free tickets

YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan — The X-League is offering free tickets to servicemembers wanting to attend the Dec. 16 Japan Bowl.

The X-League Championship Game begins at 7 p.m. in the Tokyo Dome. Formed in 1971, the X-League is semi-professional.

To get free tickets, stop by Yujo Recreation Center or participate in the Enlisted Club’s Tuesday Night Football Frenzy.

The Japan Bowl decides the X-League’s representative to the Rice Bowl, which is Japan’s national championship. The Rice Bowl, held every January 3 at the Tokyo Dome, pits the winner of the X-League against the Japanese collegiate champion.
