HOHENFELS, Germany – Snowed out of the 2010 portion of the 2010-2011 high school basketball schedule, Hohenfels senior guard Jamie Tompkins quickly rounded into last season’s All-Europe form in a season-opening sweep of the visiting Mannheim Bison.

Tompkins, who averaged 20 points and six steals per game in making last year’s All-Europe second team, scored 18 points in the Tigers’ 49-43 victory on Friday. He came back to score 28 points and hand out eight assists in Saturday’s 67-55 victory.

Damien Babington and J.J. Calhoun each added 12 points to the Lions’ cause on Friday. Babington reached double-figures again on Saturday with 10 points.

Next up for the Tigers (2-0 overall) are Friday and Saturday games at Heidelberg.

Mannheim, which got a team-high 16 points on Friday from Aaron Clarke and a team-high 20 points and 12 rebounds on Saturday from Brandon Wiley, fell to 0-4, but all those losses are non-regional. The Bison are scheduled to open their Region II campaign on Friday against visiting Baumholder and travel to Baumholder on Saturday.
