KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany — A football camp for DODDS-Europe players directed by stateside coaches is scheduled for June in Kaiserslautern.
The camp will be June 19-22 at the the Vogelweh Fitness Center and will be led by John Shannon, offensive coordinator at the University of Toledo, according to Roy Bolton, a camp organizer and father of a player at Kaiserslautern High School.
Costs are $280 for players who require overnight accommodations and $250 for all others. Lodging will be provided at nearby Kleber Kaserne and transportation to and from the camp facility will be provided.
The objectives of the camp are to teach players “proper fundamentals and the latest techniques at all position” and to help them develop into team leaders, according to camp literature. Each camper will be seen and evaluated by college coaches.
Shannon will be assisted by his son, Justin Shannon, tight ends and H-backs coach at Tennessee Tech University, and others.
Shannon, in a note to Bolton, said he planned to help the players “improve their skill level during camp and get as much exposure from the different colleges as possible during their three days.”
Room and meals will be provided for high school football coaches. For more information on the camp, e-mail boltonroy@hotmail.com.
