Spaces are still available for next month’s volleyball camps in Vilseck, Germany, for elementary- and middle-school boys and girls and high-school girls, director Brian Swenty said Thursday.

The camps, organized by A.C.E (Achievement, Commitment, Excellence) Volleyball Club, are sanctioned by DODDS-Europe and the Amateur Athletic Union. The elementary and middle-school day camp will be Aug. 18-20, and the high-school girls overnight camp is Aug. 21-24.

Leading the instructional staff is Giovanni Galvez, head women’s coach at Turabo University in Puerto Rico. A former professional player, Galvez also coaches the Las Criollas volleyball club in Puerto Rico.

Other instructors at the camps, which are open to all skill levels, are Joseph Krause, a certified coach with USA Volleyball; All-Air Force performer Chris Hucks, now playing with a German club; and Tim Kim and Manny Miguel, both members of the USAFE men’s team.

The day camp fee is $75 and the high school camp costs $150. All campers will receive an AAU membership and camp T-shirt.

“It should be a neat experience,” said Swenty, coach of the Vilseck High School Falcons. “We think this camp is timed well for kids moving in. It will give the newcomers a chance to meet and bond with their new teammates.”
