NAVAL SUPPORT ACTIVITY ROTA, Spain - Visiting Sigonella rallied from a 14-0 first-quarter deficit Friday night to down Rota, 28-14, and improve to 2-0 in Division III.

The Jaguars'first-week win over Rota doesn’t count in the standings, according to officials, because the first round of games in Division III were only for exhibition. But Sigonella has been awarded a 1-0 victory in its second week contest against Alconbury (a 26-20 defeat in two overtimes), because Alconbury used an ineligible player.

Friday, Sigonella climbed out of the hole behind its defense, led by 17 tackles, 1½ sacks, a forced fumble and an interception by Brandon Albert; 14 tackles, a forced fumbler and an interception by Joseph Coleman; and four tackles, a fumble recovery and three defended passes by Marco Montero, coach Matt McKown wrote in a Saturday E-mail.

Offensively, he added, the Jaguars rolled up 383 total yards. McKown credited Sigonella TDs to Jeff Lastrella, Michael Mink and Coleman, but did not provide the name of the scorer of Sigonella’s other TD.

Terrance Paris and Kevin Banks went into the end zone for Rota (1-1).
