Quarterback Keenan Jones ran for two touchdowns and passed for three others, and Sigonella’s defense returned two fumbles for TDs Saturday night as the Jaguars claimed a 52-14 Division III-North high school football victory over Rota at NAS Sigonella.

Jones ran 10 yards for touchdowns to open the scoring in the first and third quarters and completed TD passes of 52, 6 and 22 yards to Paul Nicholson. The two also hooked up for a two-point conversion pass.

Jones was 5-for-10 for 121 yards — all to Nicholson. Anthony Turner led Sigonella with 55 of its 126 rushing yards.

Sigonella’s victory enabled it to keep pace with league co-leader Brussels by improving to 2-0 overall and in III-North. Rota fell to 0-2 overall and in III-North.

Linebacker Danny Vazquez scooped up a Rota fumble on a first-quarter kickoff return and took it 22 yards for Sigonella’s second score. The Jaguars’ second fumble-return TD came in the fourth quarter when lineman Larkin Lader caused a loose ball that Turner picked up and carried 75 yards for a score.

Sigonella’s special teams produced one TD and set up two others. Nicholson returned the game’s opening kickoff 57 yards to position the Jags for the first Jones TD, Dustin Sampson brought a punt back 35 yards to pave the way for another score, and Jose Peralta returned a punt 45 yards for a fourth-quarter TD.
