YONGSAN GARRISON, South Korea – After losing six of its previous eight games to Daegu, Seoul American now owns a four-game winning streak against the Warriors and, thanks to running back Ronald Dogan, won its second straight DODDS Korea football title.
Dogan gained 184 yards on 10 carries, including touchdown runs of 15, 37 and 14 yards, as the Falcons overran Daegu 40-16 on Friday at Seoul American’s Sims Field. Much of the second half was played with a running clock.
Unlike the Falcons’ season-opening 13-12 edging of Daegu in which Seoul American fumbled the ball away four times in the Warriors’ end zone, the Falcons left little to chance, coach Jim Davis said.
“We took better care of the football and executed better” than in the Aug. 24 game. “That was the big (difference).”
Brandon Roseborough returned a fumble 70 yards for a touchdown and also ran 2 yards for a score. Alex McDonald added a 16-yard touchdown run, and Cameron Harris went 5-for-7 for 86 yards.
“We came to play, the enthusiasm was there, the defense came out and gave the ball back to us and we scored and we were on our way,” Davis said.
A bright spot for the Warriors, who were missing six players, was Xavian Washburn, who ran nine times for 148 yards, including touchdown runs of 33 and 21 yards.
“For us, with our small-sized school, missing two players is like missing the world,” coach Ken Walter said. “We didn’t execute in the first half. Nothing went right. Seoul American just jumped on us and executed.”
Seoul American ends its season by hosting Osan American on Friday. Daegu wraps up its campaign with a game against the Singapore Falcons on Saturday, also at Sims Field.
