YONGSAN GARRISON, South Korea — Thanks to a ball-control offense that yielded no turnovers and a ferocious defense that forced six takeaways, Seoul American is DODDS-Korea Football League champion once more.

Trinadai Stansel returned an interception for a touchdown, and T.J. Alexander and Steve Brown each ran for TDs as the Falcons blanked Osan American 24-0 Saturday at Falcon Field and captured their sixth straight league title.

Seoul coach Julian Harden said the final verdict "didn’t indicate what happened."

"Winning ugly is still winning, I guess," he said, adding that a tough battle with a Cougars team coming off a two-game winning streak "was to be expected. Those were two really good wins. They were ready. We expected them to be ready."

But unlike Seoul’s 14-8 home loss to Daegu American on Oct. 11, "things worked in our favor this week," Harden said.

For one, the Falcons took better care of the football than in the Daegu game, in which Seoul coughed up the ball four times.

"No turnovers. That was huge. Those kill drives," Harden said.

Then, there was the ball-control package that the Falcons utilized, keeping the ball between the tackles with Stansel, Brown and Alexander combining for 174 yards on 22 carries. Stansel had 204 all-purpose yards.

"We controlled the ball," Harden said. "When we got some scoring opportunities, we had some minor hiccoughs, but we executed and we moved the chains."

Joe Han’s 27-yard field goal in the first quarter got the Falcons on the board. Stansel’s 69-yard interception-return touchdown followed in the second quarter.

Brown had an 8-yard TD run in the third and Alexander scored from the 4 with 6:13 left.

Osan fumbled five times, four coming inside the Falcons’ 30-yard line, in addition to Stansel’s pick-off.

"That hurt," said coach Duke Allen of the Cougars (2-3). "Those blew it open."

Mike Gilliam paced the Osan attack with 88 yards on 13 carries.

Will Rapoza added 61 yards on 11 rushes and Adonte’ Murry contributed 39 yards on four attempts.

CAMP WALKER, South Korea — In the first inter-area meeting between the teams, Josh Bales ran for touchdowns of 4 and 5 yards, Dionte Waite added a 5-yard scoring run, Lamar King a 1-yard TD run and Don Hampton ran a kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown for the Dragons (2-4).

The Warriors (2-3) kept it close for three quarters, with Larry Dixon scoring from 25 yards and Thomas Smith from 3.

"It was a great game. They treated us well. And what a facility. That field is phenomenal," Kubasaki coach Fred Bales said. "They’re a well-coached, classy outfit. They played hard and tough. Their spread gave us fits for three quarters."

Daegu lost No. 3 quarterback Antoine Feagin to a shoulder injury. Smith, his replacement, was 8-for-13 for 130 yards and ran nine times for 93 yards.

TOKYO — At Mustang Valley, Joey Benus teamed with Erik Sonntag to block a punt, which Keita Iwabuchi returned 20 yards for a touchdown, and then Benus blocked another punt and took it 15 yards for a score as the host Mustangs (4-2) enjoyed a happy homecoming.

Alex Busam returned an interception 70 yards for a touchdown and tossed a 25-yard TD pass to Taro Tomiya, who also ran 5 yards for a score. Ryan Christianson kicked a 25-yard field goal.

For the Trojans (0-6), Emmanuel Sloan returned after missing four games with an injury. He ran 19 times for 25 yards and a TD. Elias Labrador added a 1-yard TD run.

MANGILAO, Guam — The Panthers (3-4) played the Gadao Division champion Geckos (5-2) much tighter than they did in a 36-0 loss last month, but still came up short.

D’Andre Weaver ran 72 yards for a touchdown, Evan Marshall caught a 30-yard TD pass from Rico Brunner, and Eric Lang returned a fumble 55 yards for a score.

"Our defense was outstanding. It took the offense awhile to get clicking. We gave them a good run. Now, we have to get healthy," coach Brandon Miller said of a Panthers squad beset by the flu.

Guam High begins the Interscholastic Football League playoffs with a Saturday quarterfinal against John F. Kennedy.
