BAMBERG, Germany — Approximately 300 soldiers with the Schweinfurt-based 44th Expeditionary Signal Battalion are deploying to Afghanistan during the next two months, according to the 7th Theater Tactical Signal Brigade.
Companies A and C cased their colors in a ceremony Tuesday to signal the start of their yearlong departure, a 5th Signal Command release stated.
The tactical and strategic communication soldiers will be deploying in small groups to support other units throughout Regional Commands North and East, said Sgt. Brian Rodan, a public affairs spokesman for the 7th TTSB.
The fatal shooting of two airmen at Frankfurt international airport Wednesday has not affected any of the departure schedules or procedures thus far, Rodan said.
