ROTA, Spain — Senior Kevin Banks struck out 11 batters Saturday to pitch the defending European Division I-II champion Rota Admirals to a 6-2 victory over the Club Los Osos of Chiclana, Spain. The Spaniards, however, rebounded in the nightcap to win 15-4. Both games were five innings.

According to Rota coach Charles Banks, Kevin Banks allowed just four hits and walked three in Game 1. Supporting the younger Banks was junior Frankie Esquivel, who drove in two runs and tripled, and freshman James Telford, who also drove in two runs.

In Game 2, Telford and Banks each stroked two extra-base hits, coach Banks reported.

Next up for the 2010 Europepan champs is a Saturday game against the base men’s team, he said.
