RAF LAKENHEATH, England - Nick Nixon and Jon Groteleuschen each broke the 100-yard rushing barrier Saturday and ran for a touchdown to help defending European D-I champion Ramstein erase a 6-0 halftime deficit en route to a 34-6 victory over Lakenheath
Nixon carried the ball 16 times for 133 yards and Groteleuschen rushed 14 times for 100 yards to help Ramstein (4-1) set up a home showdown this week against Filton Academy. That game’s winner is likely to claim the I-North title and home field for the Oct. 30 semifinals.
Andrew Gayton also broke a big play for Ramstein, according to Lakenheath coach Matt Martinez, by returning an interception for a touchdown.
Lakenheath fell to 0-5 despite Xavier Thompson’s 109-yard rushing effort. Austin Morrow added 68 yards on the ground for the Lancers, who close out the season Saturday at Kaiserslautern.
