Tournament at a glance

Dates and site — Wednesday-Saturday, Kadena Air Base, Okinawa.
Format — Boys and girls singles and doubles, mixed doubles, single-elimination. Each team carries four boys and four girls on its roster; each player must play doubles and may choose to play either singles or mixed doubles.
Schedule of events — First matches begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Singles and mixed doubles, first two rounds, on Wednesday. Doubles play begins Thursday. Quarterfinals scheduled for Friday with championship matches Saturday, depending on weather.
Participating schools — Division I: Kadena Panthers, Kubasaki Dragons, Nile C. Kinnick Red Devils, St. Mary’s Titans/Seisen Phoenix, Humphreys Blackhawks, Yongsan Guardians.
Division II: E.J. King Cobras, Matthew C. Perry Samurai, Yokota Panthers, Zama Trojans, Robert D. Edgren Eagles, Osan Cougars, Daegu Warriors, Christian Academy Japan Knights.
Returning individual champions — Sarah Omachi, Seisen, girls singles and doubles; Amana Fujikawa, Seisen, girls doubles; Lauren Woody, Seisen, mixed doubles.
Defending team champions — Division I — School: YIS-Seoul; boys: St. Mary’s; girls: Seisen. Division II — School, boys and girls: CAJ.
