Yokota first-year baseball coaches Steven Ferch and Shannon Laliberte must be thanking their stars that Virginia is on the map. From that state in the summer came right-hander Nate Sax, a senior, to Panther Country, where he got Yokota off to a rousing start Thursday in the DODDS Japan baseball tournament, throwing a no-hitter against Zama American. He struck out eight and walked only two, and fellow transfer Leo Austin, a sophomore who came from Robert D. Edgren, went 4-for-4 with a pair of triples and four RBIs as the Panthers routed the Trojans 14-0. Austin is the reigning Far East Division II Tournament Most Valuable Player. Play in the tournament continues until 6 p.m. Saturday. The DODDS Japan softball tournament runs concurrently at Yokota.
