Freshman Eric Ji threw three-hit ball for 3 2/3 innings, striking out seven batters, while sophomore Tyler Blalock put the Blackhawks ahead to stay with a two-run first-inning double.

Anne Mountcastle struck out eight in a four-inning complete game and the Cougars scored six times in the second inning to dethrone Daegu 14-5 in Friday’s championship game.

Saturday’s girls soccer match is one of four finals scheduled this weekend to wrap up the DODEA-Korea spring season. Three take place at Osan: boys soccer at 11 a.m. Saturday, following softball and baseball at noon and 2:30 p.m. Friday.

Kubasaki (baseball, girls soccer), Kinnick (boys soccer) and Kadena (softball) come away with district titles.

It’s the first time any DODEA-Pacific teams have traveled outside district since February 2020. DODEA-Korea teams can’t make trip.

District will hold soccer, baseball and softball finals in baseball, soccer and softball on last weekend in April.

All told, 328 athletes from 11 schools competed for about six hours on a chilly Saturday that began cloudy, but ended with sunny skies and a fairly strong tailwind on the track’s sprint side.
