OSAN AIR BASE, South Korea – Camp Humphreys women’s basketball team ended the 2010 calendar year the same way the Bulldogs ended last Koreawide post-level basketball season, beating Yongsan Garrison for a championship.

Samantha Loving poured in 24 points to pace three players in double figures and the Bulldogs pulled away from the Lady Rebels in the second half for a 90-50 triumph in Monday’s women’s title game in the 25th Osan Pacificwide Holiday Basketball Tournament.

Katia Reed added 15 points and Jerri Taylor 12 for the Bulldogs, who last February 22 beat Yongsan 50-36 in the Koreawide post-level tournament at Camp Humphreys.

Meanwhile, Kadena’s Falcons of Okinawa prevailed over the tournament host Osan Defenders for the men’s title, but it wasn’t easy – Kadena needed to win the “if necessary” second final game of the double-elimination playoff.

The Falcons won the deciding game 92-82, a game that lasted until almost 11 p.m. Julian Royal had 22 points to lead five Falcons in double figures. Washington McMahan was tops for the Defenders with 17.

Osan forced the second “if” game by routing the Falcons 102-63, led by Larry Boyd’s 15 points. Earlier Monday, Rodney Martin netted 23 points as Kadena knocked Osan into the knockout bracket by beating the Defenders 88-70.
