Last week: Debuted on the Pacific stage in fine style, capturing three gold medals, setting two records and helping lead the Panthers to their sixth straight boys team title in the Mike Petty Memorial Track and Field Meet on Friday and Saturday at Camp Foster, Okinawa.

Shariff, a sophomore, long-jumped 6.47 meters, breaking by .02 the old mark set two years ago by Kadena’s Manuel Duran. Shariff also captured the 200 and helped Kadena’s boys set a record in the 400 relay, clocking 45.18, .10 better than the old standard, again set in 2007 by Kadena.

"We wanted to debut him" in a Pacificwide meet such as Petty, said coach Sergio Mendoza, for whom Coleman also plays running back on the football team. "He’s fast, he’s agile, he jumps long and he carries a pigskin pretty well."

Last week: Made a remarkable debut, reeling in gold medals in middle- and long-distance events and breaking one record, powering private club STC to its best finish in a Mike Petty Track and Field Meet. STC finished second overall and second in the boys team standings.

Ingram, a freshman, on Saturday won the 1,600-meter run in 5 minutes, 39.24 seconds, four seconds behind the meet record. She also won the 800 in 2:34.61, but in Friday’s qualifying, she broke the meet’s 6-year-old record, clocking 2:28.22, beating the old mark of 2:29.7.

Coach Kevin Madden says Ingram possesses "incredible national-level potential. She’s a hard worker. She loves to compete. She has lofty goals and ambitions, she’s very polite and disciplined."
