Last week: Once more dominated the short sprints, becoming the first Okinawa Activities Council runner to break 11 seconds in the 100 meters and 22 seconds in the 200 since Kubasaki’s Tony Price and Kadena’s David McCowan in 2005.
Watson, a sophomore, remained unbeaten in each event in OAC competition this season. He ran the 100 in a wind-aided 10.88 seconds, and the 200 in a wind-aided 21.82. The Pacific records in each event are 10.55 and 21.4.
“I tell you, he was running,” Kubasaki coach Charles Burns said, adding that Watson is turning up the gears at the right time in preparation for Saturday’s district meet. “He’ll be ready … that’s what he’s been training for all season, and Far East is the next major goal.”

Last week: Pitched every inning in the Eagles’ six games, winning five of them and helping Edgren to a surprising championship in the DODEA Japan girls softball tournament at Yokota High School last weekend.
Redulla, a senior, began Friday by helping Edgren edge E.J. King 11-8 before falling 18-6 to two-time defending champion Nile C. Kinnick. Redulla on Saturday then pitched four straight games as Edgren eliminated E.J. King 13-8 and dethroning Kinnick 13-11 before the Eagles beat Zama American in the double-elimination final, 12-4 and 26-11.
As the team’s captain, “she leads the team on and off the field,” coach Sarah Richardson said. “She makes an effort to resolve any issues that may arise between teammates. With her leadership, especially this weekend, (she) made the girls dig deeper and play harder.”
