Zama American

Last week: Scored four touchdowns and was instrumental in the Trojans (2-1) coming back from a 19-6 first-quarter deficit to beat Nile C. Kinnick 41-27 on Friday at Naval Air Facility Atsugi’s Reid Memorial Stadium. The TDs were vital against a Red Devils team that had been outscored 151-12 in its previous three games, but whose offense roared to life against Zama.

Blackstock, a senior, scored on runs of 45, 35, 28 and 16 yards and finished with 177 yards on 14 carries. His performance helped further a Trojans rushing game that has racked up 1,171 yards in three games — by far the most in school history over any three-game span.

"He’s been with us three years. He’s worked hard in this program. He’s a fast kid. He really understands the system," coach Steven Merrell said. "He helps get the young guys in the right places. He’s like a coach on the field. He understands what we’re doing with our program."

Seoul American

Last week: Won all three of her singles matches to run her record to 7-0 this season for the rebuilding Falcons girls tennis team. Seoul American’s girls are 4-3, going 1-2 last week, with Allen being a consistent force at the top of the lineup.

A senior who won the 2007 Far East High School Tennis Tournament girls singles and finished second last year, Allen downed Seoul International’s Caroline Kim 8-1 on Sept. 16. She then blanked Sooyoung Hwang of Korea International 8-0 on Friday and dropped one game to Taejon Christian International’s Seoyoung Myang in an 8-1 victory Saturday.

"She’s really motivated. She’s doing quite well in games and practices, working a lot harder" than she did last year, coach Robert Victoria said of the girls team’s captain.

"She’s taking more of a leadership role, helping out with the younger players, doing what I need her to do. That helps a lot."
