Last week: Opened the Okinawa Activities Council’s four-game regular-season series against Kubasaki by notching a double-double as the Panthers rolled to a 23-point victory over Kubasaki on Friday in the Panther Pit.

Wise, a junior in her third year with the Panthers’ program, scored 10 points and recorded 10 steals in Kadena’s 46-23 triumph over the Dragons.

"She is a unique leader [who] truly loves the sport of basketball," coach Dewayne Pigge’ said. "Britney is a very coachable young lady, always listening and trying to succeed above 100 percent. She has proven to be a great motivator and has always excelled in sportsmanship, discipline and teamwork."

Last week: Labeled himself a Far East contender at 158 pounds by capturing that weight class in the Robert D. Edgren Invitational at Misawa Air Base on Saturday.

Spencer, a sophomore transfer from Germany who was named the football team’s MVP, not only won the 158-pound title, but scored the quickest pin of the one-day tournament (11 seconds) and also earned the tournament’s Sportsmanship Award. He carries a 4.0 GPA and was named to the principal’s list in the first quarter of the school year.

"He is the epitome of a great student-athlete," Zama athletics director Ed Fogell said. "He is dedicated to being a top-level athlete while maintaining high standards in school as well."
