Last week: Scored a touchdown and set up another on defense to help the Falcons soar to their second Far East Class AA football championship in three seasons, edging the defending champion Kadena Panthers 22-21 on Saturday at Seoul American’s Falcon Field.

Brown, a senior, returned an interception 24 yards for a touchdown 1 minute, 38 seconds into the third quarter. He then recovered a fumble forced by teammate Alex Rhinehart, which led to Trinadai Stansel’s game-winning 5-yard scoring run with 6:48 left.

"He’s a rare athlete who can do so many things," coach Julian Harden said of Brown, a first-year football player.

"He’s a gifted, all-around athlete. He’s extremely coachable, he loves to win and is willing to do whatever it takes. He epitomizes the saying, ‘leaving it all on the field.’ I wish I had him back next year."

Last week: Posted solid contributions as the Cougars became the first DODDS-Pacific school in the 33-year history of Far East volleyball tournaments to achieve a championship repeat. It was the Cougars’ third Class A title overall, second-most for a DODDS-Pacific school in history.

Baldevia, a senior captain and 2007 tournament MVP, repeated her Best Setter award and racked up 34 service aces, 116 spike kills in 295 attempts, 102 set assists, 21 blocks and 79 defensive digs during the five-day tournament. Osan for the second straight year beat Morrison Christian Academy of Taiwan in the second part of a two-match final, 25-13, 26-24, 23-25, 25-13. Morrison forced the deciding match by beating Osan 23-25, 23-25, 25-23, 26-24, 15-11.

"Celine is an exceptional blend of athleticism, selflessness, determination and maturity. She’s a dream to coach," Cougars coach Cari Pease said. "She has all the right traits to play at the next level if she chooses."
