Zama American, Japan

Last week: Recorded the second no-hitter thrown by a Zama American pitcher in as many seasons, boosting the Trojans past the Robert D. Edgren Eagles 10-0 on Friday on a cloudy, cool afternoon at Misawa Air Base.

Tabor, a junior, walked eight but struck out 15 and did not allow a ball to be hit out of the infield. He also got good support from his defense, which went errorless for the first time this season, while Kristian Garcia helped him with two hits and three RBIs.

Coach Tom Allensworth calls Tabor, whom he also coaches in basketball and who also played football last fall for the Trojans, the “backbone” of the baseball team. “He’s a great young man. He has great potential in baseball and I can see him playing at the next level,” Allensworth said.

“When he graduates next year, he will be hard to replace.”

Taegu American, South Korea

Last week: Scored six goals and assisted on one as the Warriors won one game and tied two to boost their record to 4-5-2 on the Korean-American Interscholastic Activities Conference season.

Youngblood, a senior and the team’s leading scorer the last two seasons, scored four goals in Taegu American’s 7-0 shutout of International Christian-Seoul on Saturday. A day earlier, she scored two second-half goals as the Warriors rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit to tie Seoul International 3-3. Those efforts came two days after Taegu again rallied to tie Taejon Christian International 2-2.

As the team’s captain, “she is a strategist and leads by example,” coach Ed Thompson said of Youngblood, who has eight goals this season, most of which she spent filling in for injured sweeper Nina Forrest. “She is self-motivated and instills a positive, winning attitude in her teammates.”
