FRANKFURT, Germany — AFN radio in Europe will not to air this weekend’s NCAA men’s basketball tournament semifinal and championship games, according to network spokesman Roger Williams.

“We’re not going to air the games on Power Network Radio,” Williams said Thursday. “We’re going to stick with war coverage.”

AFN’s parent organization, the American Forces Radio and Television Service, is providing radio and television feeds of the NCAA Final Four to any affiliate which desires to pick them up, but its Europe-based audience will be provided television coverage only on the Atlantic and Pacific services.

Pregame coverage of the national semifinals begins at 11 p.m. Saturday, Central European Time, on AFN-Atlantic, Pacific and Korea television. The tip-off of the first game, Kansas-Marquette, is scheduled for 1 a.m. CET Sunday, with the Texas-Syracuse game to follow.

Coverage of the championship game begins at 1:30 a.m. CET on Tuesday with the pre-game show. Tip-off is set for 3 a.m. on Atlantic, Pacific and Korea, with taped replays scheduled for noon and 7 p.m. CET Tuesday on AFN-Sports.

The NCAA women’s championship is a TV-only event, too. The semifinals begin with a pregame show at 12:30 a.m. CET on Monday. Tennessee and Duke tip off at 1 a.m. CET on Monday, followed by Texas-Connecticut. The championship game will be aired at 2:30 a.m. CET Wednesday on AFN-Atlantic, Pacific and Korea.
