VILSECK, Germany — In their first road game of the season, the Naples Wildcats ran their string of shutouts to three Saturday with a 14-0 victory over previously unbeaten Vilseck.

Jeremy Joseph scored on a 1-yard run and ran for a two-point conversion for Naples (3-0 overall and II-South).

Montez Jinks ran 34 yards for the other Naples TD in the third quarter.

Joseph starred defensively with an interception and six solo tackles. Matt Briegel led the Naples defense with seven solo stops and two fumble recoveries.

Ryan Clark and Aaron Vernon pulled down interceptions for Vilseck (2-1 overall and in II-South).

Naples will host ISB Saturday. Vilseck plays at Hanau.

ISB 24, Mannheim 0

BRUSSELS, Belgium — Defending European Division II champion International School of Brussels rebounded from last week’s 38-13 loss to SHAPE by breaking running back Matt Gett loose for TD runs of 55, 35 and 42 yards.

Gett carried the ball 15 times for 203 yards for ISB (2-1 in II-North and overall). Matthew Merritt added a 32-yard field goal at the end of the first half for ISB.

Mannheim suffered its first loss of the season.

The Bison (2-1 overall and in II-North) got 91 yards on 17 rushes by Eric Mayfield, but ISB dominated much of the play behind seven tackles each by Dan Kubis, Ian Beamon and Alex Davey-Thompson.

In addition to his kicking, Merritt intercepted a Brian Kinnersley pass.

Bitburg 53, AFNORTH 26

BITBURG AB, Germany — Back-up running back Pascal Grundmann ran for 239 yards and three touchdowns to help the Barons overcome 325 yards rushing by AFNORTH back Ryan Butler.

Grundmann carried the ball 15 times and scored on runs of 5, 9 and 73 yards to negate Butler’s effort.

Butler scored on runs of 25, 2 and 9 yards and threw halfback-option passes that resulted in a 25-yard touchdown to Reston Wilson and a two-point conversion to Andrew Mengihine.

Tom Mueller scored three times for Bitburg (2-1 overall; 1-1 II-North). Mueller caught a 16-yard TD pass from Trey Wilson to open the scoring, then ran 44 yards and 14 yards for two other first-half scores.

Bitburg’s Wilson ran 2 yards and David Murray 13 for Bitburg’s other TDs.

AFNORTH, which amassed 385 yards of offense, fell to 0-3 overall and in II-North. The Lions close out their conference season Saturday by hosting unbeaten SHAPE.

SHAPE 36, Patch 6

SHAPE, Belgium — Senior quarterback Ryan Rice completed five touchdown passes in a nonconference rout.

Rice was 11-for-14 for 222 yards.

Brandon Glenn led SHAPE (3-0) with 91 yards on 13 carries. Puttman led the Spartan receivers with three receptions for 76 yards and two TDs.

Patch fell to 0-3, all on the road. The Panthers get a home game Saturday, when Aviano comes to town.

Middle linebacker Richard Rendon recorded nine solo tackles for SHAPE.

Patch got a sack from Walter Moore.

Hanau 26, Aviano 6

AVIANO AB, Italy — Malcolm Lane ran for three touchdowns and the Panthers won their first game of the season.

Lane carried 10 times for 72 yards. The TDs came after Aviano’s Michael Auchley’s 1-yard plunge had tied the game 6-6 at the end of the first quarter.

Robert Scott opened the scoring for Hanau (1-2) on a 1-yard plunge. He carried the ball 17 times for 101 yards and caught four passes for 106 yards. Jose Agosto led Hanau with 136 yards on 18 carries.

Agosto also made 12 tackles and George Lane intercepted two passes for Hanau, which hosts Vilseck on Saturday.

Aviano’s Dustin Miller rushed for 91 yards on 22 carries, and freshman made 16 tackles for the Saints.

The Saints (0-3), who travel to Patch on Saturday, got 14 tackles from Brandon Brusseau and 11 from James Crow.
