NAPLES, Italy - It was Joseph Pitts through the air for Naples and Prince Owusu on the ground for Baumholder — with the edge going to Naples in a 25-8 victory Saturday in the Division II playoff quarterfinals.

Pitts completed nine of 15 passes for 210 yards and two touchdowns to outduel Owusu, who rushed 15 times for 175 yards, including a 67-yard TD run.

Pitts connected with Ryheam Trahan and Adrian Devezin for scores, while Kyle Smigelski and David Arriquin added TDs for the Wildcats (4-2). Smigelski scored on a 30-yard run off tackle and Arriquin had a 45-yard fumble return.

Smigelski finished with 12 rushes for 68 yards and also pulled in a 10-yard pass.

Defensively, Trahan picked off two Baumholder passes, and Ivo Sabotinov and Arriquin registered 15 and 10 tackles, respectively. Baumholder finished the season 2-4.

At presstime Saturday night, Naples was awaiting the results of a quarterfinal game between unbeaten Bitburg and Hohenfels to find out whom they would play in next weekend’s semifinal. No report on the Bitburg game had been received by presstime Saturday night.
