Brittany Shannon of Kaiserslautern and Dexter High of Spangdahlem helped carry the All-Armed Forces slow-pitch softball teams deep into the American Softball Association’s national championship tournaments in Oklahoma City, according to the ASA’s Web-site.

Shannon, a center fielder, went 6-for-9 with a double, triple and home run in the servicewomen’s 3-1 run to Saturday’s championship game, which they lost to Hawks/Miss Kitty of Des Moines, Iowa, 6-5.

High went 7-for-11 with six RBIs, two home runs and two doubles as the interservice men’s stars collected three victories. The servicemen dropped a 21-16 verdict to TCP, despite High’s 2-for-4 outing that included a double, and were eliminated.

Heidelberg’s Jessica Turner, an extra hitter, also made the women’s All-Armed Forces team, according to a press release from Armed Forces Sports, but did not play in Oklahoma City, according to information posted on the ASA Web-site.
