HILLINGDON, England – Menwith Hill’s girls rebounded from a pre-holiday defeat at Brussels by downing teams from two American Community Schools on Friday and Saturday.

Friday, Menwith Hill, behind double-figure scoring from Rachael Solini and Monique McCreary, who tallied 12 and 10 points, respectively, dumped ACS-Egham 34-15, holding their foe to just seven second-half points.

Saturday, McCreary, a senior, canned 16 points, and Kaia Pierce, a 5-foot-11-inch sophomore center, added 14 points and a game-high 10 rebounds to lift the Lady Mustangs to a 40-32 victory over ACS-Hillingdon.

None of Menwith’s starters got to play a full game in the contest which Menwith Hill led 38-16 after three periods. Menwith Hill coach Kate Ojeda elected to clear her bench at that point, and the Lady Hawks clawed closer against Ojeda’s reserves.

Pierce took rebounding honors with 10; McCreary came down with eight in the victory which upped Menwith Hill’s overall record against varsity teams to 3-1. Solini grabbed six rebounds on Saturday and came up with four steals.

The Lady Mustangs were coming off a 17-16 loss at Brussels on Dec. 11. The previous day, they had handed the defending European D-III champs a 26-16 loss.

Next up for the Lady Mustangs are games against a team from British school Danum. They play at Danum, located in Doncaster, on Friday, then entertain Danum on Saturday.
