All-Europe junior Jasmine Mailoto posted her second double-double of the weekend Saturday as Aviano completed a sweep of visiting American Overseas School of Rome with a 47-34 victory to take sole possession of the Region IV (American Schools in Italy League) lead.

Mailoto, a 6-foot-2-inch center, scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds Saturday to go along with the 10 points and 19 rebounds she posted in Friday’s 48-28 triumph.

Alex Ostler and Kyerha Smith each had nine points Saturday. Smith also posted eight rebounds and five steals.

AnnMarie McClellan topped Aviano’s scorers Friday with 11 points, two more than teammate Casey Berunetti. Also posting good games for Aviano (4-0 overall and in Region IV) were Katlyn Atchley, with 11 rebounds, and Smith, with five assists and four steals.

Next up for Aviano is a length-of-Italy trip to Sigonella, where the Saints are to play Friday and Saturday.

AOSR, which got a game-high 18 points from Martina Mannozzi on Friday and a team-high 11 from Giorgia Argomenti on Saturday, has an open date next week and will take a 3-3 overall and regional mark into its next games, Jan 27-28 against visiting Sigonella.

In other girls games of note:

Heidelberg 45, Hohenfels 6: Saturday at Heidelberg, the Lady Lions stayed tied atop the Region III standings with a 39-point courtesy-rule win over visiting Hohenfels.

A 12-0 first quarter run was more than enough to push Heidelberg (5-1 overall) to a 4-0 mark in Region III.

Star Jones, who claimed 11 rebounds in the Lady Lions’ 49-14 victory over Hohenfels on Friday, led Saturday’s score sheet with eight points. Heidelberg, which led 30-4 at intermission and struggled to hold down the score, got seven points each from Romina Fears and Rebecca Luna. Fears led Heidelberg’s rebounding on Saturday with eight.

Tashia Golson scored three points Saturday to lead Hohenfels (1-4, 0-3).

Next up for Heidelberg are regional games Friday and Saturday against visiting Black Forest Academy; Hohenfels invades Patch on Friday and Saturday for its second straight set of games against a Division I team.

Patch 56, Bamberg 30: Saturday at Bamberg, All-European Janelle Loney ripped the defending European D-II champions for 25 points, five steals, five assists and five rebounds as the Lady Panthers completed a two-game Region III sweep.

Friday, Loney accounted for 30 points, nine rebounds, five assists and four steals in a 57-20 victory.

Bianca Lopez also posted gaudy weekend stats for D-I contender Patch — 16 points each game, along with 12 total steals and eight total assists.

Patch (5-1, 4-0) kept pace with Heidelberg for the Region III lead. Bamberg fell to 0-3, 0-2.

SHAPE 34, International School of Brussels 25: Saturday at Mons, Belgium, the Lady Spartans avenged Friday’s 20-17 overtime loss in Brussels behind 16 points from Gina Rhett and 11 from Theresa Muldoon.

The loss was the first of the season for ISB (4-1 overall and in Region I), which will play next weekend at Lakenheath. SHAPE (3-4, 1-1) is scheduled to play at AFNORTH on Friday and host the Lady Lions on Saturday.
