RAF ALCONBURY, England — The London Central boys, winless last season, earned a trip to the European Division III tournament at Mannheim when they defeated regular-season champion Brussels 39-33 in the semifinals of the Division III-North Regional qualifying tournament on Friday.

The Bobcats will be joined at the Mannheim tournament, being held Thursday and Friday, by the Rota Admirals, the team London Central was to play in Saturday’s late championship game at Alconbury. Rota downed Iceland 62-50 in Friday’s other semifinal of the three-day round-robin event.

In girls qualifying, undefeated London Central, European runners-up last year, nailed down a berth in Mannheim with a 56-48 victory over Alconbury in a Friday semifinal. The other berth will go to Rota, which defeated Brussels 32-19 in Friday’s other semifinal.

London Central and Rota were to be play for the III-North title in a late game Saturday.
