RAF MILDENHALL, England — The International School of Brussels girls basketball team headed into this weekend with an impressive 4-1 record in Region I, but all that changed when the Lady Raiders took to the court this weekend at Lakenheath.

The Lady Lancers sent their Division I foes home with a pair of losses, winning Saturday, 40-21, to go along with their 36-26 victory Friday.

Jasmin Walker led Lakenheath (2-0 Region I, 5-3 overall) on Saturday with 17 points, while Melissa Enriquez had nine points and 15 rebounds, and Shaionica Speight had 10 points, 10 rebounds and eight steals.

The game got away from ISB at the end of the third period when Walker and Speight each had a takeaway thanks to the full-court press and each converted them into baskets.

On Friday, Walker and Speight again led the way. Walker had 10 points and six rebounds, while Speight had six points and 13 rebounds. Ellie Bice finished with six points and seven rebounds.

Lakenheath coach Matt Martinez, noting ISB’s previous success on the court, was proud of his team’s performance.

“ISB came in with a good record,” Martinez said. “It was good for us to win both of these games.”

The Lady Lancers donned pink-accented jerseys during Saturday’s game to raise awareness for breast cancer, he said.

Lakenheath will travel to play another D-I rival, SHAPE, next weekend, while ISB doesn’t play again until Feb. 1, when it hopes to get back on the winning track against D-III Brussels.
