Kaiserslautern Military Community’s All-Stars rode a six-run sixth inning Wednesday to a 7-1 victory over England on Day 2 of Little League Baseball’s European Regional tournament.

According to KMC parent Wayne Daubert, Matt Zembraski pitched five innings, striking out 12, for the victory; Dan Tolarchyk and Cody Prince nailed down the final three outs after England had scored its run on three walks and a fielder’s choice in the bottom of the sixth.

Tolarchyk drove in three runs for KMC, the first on a two-out, second-inning single which cashed in a leadoff single by Kenny Martin. Tolarchyk drove in the other two runners on a double to the fence in the top of the sixth. Martin, Santee Jackson and Cannon Byrd also hit RBI singles in KMC’s 11-hit attack.

The victory gave KMC a 2-0 pool-play record going into Thursday afternoon’s late game against Lithuania.

The winner of the weeklong, 11-nation tournament earns Europe’s berth in the Little League World Series later this month in Williamsport, Pa.

Pool-play continues through Saturday, with the top four in each pool advancing to Sunday’s quarterfinals. Semifinals are scheduled for Monday, and the championship and third-place games are slated for Tuesday.
