KUTNO, Poland — The Kaiserslautern Military Community All-Stars needed just 3½ innings in Thursday’s late game to down Lithuania 13-1 and improve their record to 3-0 in Little League Baseball’s European Regional tournament.
According to KMC parent Wayne Daubert, the All-Stars jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning on a three-run homer by Cannon Byrd. The All-Stars scored their fourth run when Jacob Van Parys doubled, stole third and raced home on a passed ball.
KMC made it 7-0 in the second on an RBI single by winning pitcher Cody Prince and a two-run single by Kenny Martin. The All-Stars added their final six runs in the third, Daubert reported, achieving the 10-run-rule advantage on a two-run double by Santee Jackson, who had tripled in his previous at-bat, RBI-singles by Prince and Matt Zembraski and two run-scoring passed balls.
Prince pitched four innings, allowing just two hits. He struck out six and walked six.
KMC drew the late game again on Friday, when they were to try to make it 4-0 against Turkey (0-3) in this 11-nation event which sends its champion to the Little League World Series Aug. 21-30 in Williamsport, Pa.
