CAMP RED CLOUD, South Korea — October figures to be a busy sports month in 2nd Infantry Division Warrior Country: four Warrior Division events and three 8th U.S. Army championships are scheduled at Camp Casey.

¶ The Warrior Division boxing championship kicks off the slate Oct. 2 - Oct. 4 at the Carey Fitness Center. It’s open to soldiers assigned throughout 2nd Infantry Division. Competition is to begin at 6 p.m. nightly.

¶ The 8th Army powerlifting championship, open to soldiers throughout Korea, is scheduled for Oct. 4, also at Carey, to start at 1:30 p.m.

¶ The Warrior Division bowling championship follows Oct. 8 - Oct. 10 at Camp Casey Bowling Center. It’s open to qualified bowlers from the Camp Casey and Camp Red Cloud garrison championships.

Competition begins at 1 p.m. each day. The top eight men’s and four women’s bowlers advance to the 8th Army championship Oct. 14 - Oct. 17 at Camp Walker in Taegu.

¶ The Warrior Division wrestling championship takes place Oct. 11 at Carey, open to soldiers assigned to the 2nd Infantry Division, with competition starting at 1 p.m.

¶ The Warrior Division’s company-level soccer championship is slated for Oct. 15 - Oct. 17 at East Casey Field. It welcomes qualified teams from the Casey and Red Cloud garrison company-level finals.

Preliminary games run from 1 to 7 p.m. Oct. 15 - Oct. 16, with the championship game at 3 p.m. Oct. 17. The top two teams will advance to the 8th Army company-level championship Oct. 29 - Nov. 1 at Yongsan Garrison in Seoul.

¶ The 8th Army freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling championships are on tap Oct. 18 at Carey, open to active duty soldiers assigned throughout Korea. Competition starts at 1 p.m.

¶ The 8th Army boxing championship is scheduled for Oct. 23 - Oct. 25 at Carey, open to soldiers stationed throughout Korea. Competition starts at 6 p.m. each night.
