VICENZA, Italy - Chris Sanchez ran 52, three and 20 yards for touchdowns Saturday as Hohenfels claimed its first victory of the season by downing Vicenza, 36-14.

Jamie Tompkins, on a 20-yard run, and Steven Orona, on a three-year plunge, also ran the ball into the end zone for Hohenfels (1-2).

The game was tied at 14 at halftime, but the Hohenfels defense, led by Armonte Porterfield, James Robinson and Tompkins shut down Vicenza after intermission while scoring two TDs of its own, one on a 25-yard pass interception return by Charles Boateng and the other on a 35-yard fumble return by David Devin.

Quarterback J.P. Gueli was 8-of-16 passing for 76 yards and a touchdown — 30 yards to Alex Steger — for Vicenza (0-3). Vicenza’s other score came on a run by Joe Boswell, who ended the day with 76 rushing yards.

Next up for Vicenza is a Friday night date at Aviano. Hohenfels is to host Bamberg, also on Friday night.
